Little Milton

Twixt the Cotswolds and the Chilterns, Little Milton nestles here,

A pretty little village in lovely Oxfordshire.

The clock chimes from the grey stone church to tell the time of day

But leaves the night in silence for all to sleep away.

No street lights shine to dim the stars or make the moon redundant,

No noise, just the night owl's cry or a pheasant settling for the night,

Peace and quiet in abundance.

The village pub has a fine thatched roof.  It serves good food and wine,

Beers and spirits of your choice, a cheerful face, a friendly voice,

All are welcome any time.

In the tiniest shop you've ever seen, there's everything to hand

And just outside, the village green.

Must be the smallest in the land.

A road runs through the village, it's the A329

And if you're travelling on this road perhaps you'd spare the time

To stop a while and look around and see if you agree,

This English country village is a pleasant place to be.
